ABOUT
SPACE776 is pleased to present Unspoken, a summer group exhibition featuring Adam Bazlik, Sunjoo
Chung, and Zukie. On view from July 22 through August 18, 2026, the exhibition brings together
sculpture and painting to explore how form, material, color, and surface shape our perception, memory, and
everyday experience.
Although each artist works from a distinct cultural and artistic perspective, their practices share a sensitivity
to the quiet forces that influence how we connect with objects, spaces, and one another. Rather than offering
direct narratives, the exhibition invites viewers to experience works that unfold through physical presence,
texture, and visual resonance.
Adam’s sculptures investigate the relationship between material and space. Through carefully balanced
forms and refined structures, his works embody tension, movement, and equilibrium, transforming
sculpture into an active presence that continually responds to its surrounding environment.
Sunjoo Chung reinterprets the traditional Korean craft of mother-of-pearl through a contemporary visual
language. Her celebrated Candy and M&M’s series combines the luminous beauty of handcrafted materials
with familiar symbols of popular culture, creating works that blur the boundaries between tradition and
consumer culture. Beneath their vibrant surfaces lie reflections on value, desire, memory, and cultural
identity.
Zukie creates intimate pictorial worlds through her distinctive characters. Balancing playfulness with
emotional depth, her paintings capture moments of tenderness, vulnerability, and human connection. Their
simplicity encourages viewers to project their own memories and emotions onto the work, allowing deeply
personal interpretations to emerge.
Together, the three artists demonstrate how sculpture and painting can engage with contemporary life
through remarkably different approaches. Structure and softness, tradition and popular imagery, abstraction
and figuration coexist within a shared space, revealing unexpected relationships between material, emotion,
and perception.
Unspoken offers an opportunity to encounter three distinct artistic practices brought together through a
shared commitment to material exploration and visual expression. The exhibition invites viewers to slow
down, observe closely, and discover the subtle narratives embedded within each work.
