I am Charmaine Hussain, a Pakistani folk artist and storyteller. Come enter the enchanted valley of my imagination. It is an iridescent world where the light turns imperfections into sparkling jewels, and shadows hide monsters that are beautiful. Peacocks dance in the fields of time to an ancient song. Inner children roam freely, and the wind whispers laughter through the leaves.
The Fallen King

He was an ordinary king once, until he gave in to the sin of pride. On a whim, he wore his crown like a halo, trying to adorn himself in the image of gods. They laughed at his arrogance, and bestowed on him three divine ‘gifts'. First, better hearing to catch the clamor of souls praying away their pain. Second, sharper vision to see their future...without the ability to change it. Third, an immortal lifetime to repent.
He now roams the lands as a fallen king, wearing his wilting halo as a warning, telling his story to anyone who will listen. Sometimes he wonders what was it about a tiny circle that angered the god's so much? Is pride just a sin for kings, then? No answers...just more wailing prayers that drown out his own thoughts.
